PhotoVogue’s Local Open Call • Italian Panorama

This year, PhotoVogue has become a global project that engages the entire network of Condé Nast worldwide. Being global will translate into more opportunities for artists to have their work published or commissioned by our brands across all 32 markets and commercial partners, and also more worldwide events, talks, exhibitions, and portfolio reviews to further conversations around and the promotion of creativity and diversity in image making.

PhotoVogue’s mission is always to champion talent, reach into historically excluded communities, and improve visual literacy; it also aims to shape a more just, ethical, and inclusive visual world. To make our scouting objectives more effective, PhotoVogue will promote Open Calls by theme or within specific regions of the world.

Today we are thrilled to launch our first Global Open Call in search of The Next Great Fashion Image Makers, which is endorsed by all our Vogues worldwide, and our first Local Open Call, Italian Panorama, which is dedicated to Italy as an homage to PhotoVogue’s origins. This will be the first of many local calls to individuate the most talented artists in specific regions of the world and give them the opportunity to emerge and work within the Condé Nast Global Network.

The call is open to all genres (from fashion to documentary, art, and reportage—you name it) and artists expressing themselves in every medium, from photography to video, illustration, 3D art, or any combination of these disciplines.

Everyone who identifies as Italian can apply, whether based in Italy or abroad; the only requirements are to be at least 18 years old and to have talent! We want to hear everyone’s voice, hoping that the submissions will reflect Italy’s multicultural and diverse nature, something too often neglected and underrecognized.

Unfortunately, discrimination and prejudice still occur, making it particularly difficult for diverse talent—in terms of gender, race, ethnicity, age, sexuality, education, background, and so on—to emerge. Celebrating our differences is Condé Nast’s goal, and diversity and inclusivity are our core values. Our ambition for this Open Call is to create an effective platform towards achieving a more balanced and inclusive vision, ensuring that all talents have equal opportunities to succeed.

The submissions will be evaluated by Condé Nast staff from Italy and visual experts from the broader Italian visual community, coming from as many different backgrounds as possible in order to guarantee an all-embracing, multifaceted perspective.

With this Open Call we want to highlight the next Italian generation of socially conscious image makers, artists who are a driving force for change through creativity.

Vogue Italia will publish a portfolio of the best submissions (online and/or in print), and some artists will also be selected to collaborate for an editorial (online and/or print); the most talented selections will also be part of the main exhibition at the PhotoVogue Festival 2022 in Milan.

The Open Call will run on Picter from today, April 7, until June 25 and submitting will be completely free of charge.
