PGA Tour 2022: Wyndham Championship betting guide

The Wyndham Championship is the final event of the PGA Tour’s “regular season.” Unfortunately, unlike other sports, it isn’t really going out with a bang as the field is limited. Most of the top players are already in the playoffs, so resting makes sense.

There is a little more drama, though, because some spots in the playoff field opened up due to suspensions. (Thank you, LIV Golf.) There is still upward and downward mobility for a number of golfers.

To get a sense of the limited field all you have to do is look at the odds table. With most events, we have a favorite in the 10-1 range. This week, we are well above that threshold.

There are not a lot of par-fives on this course, and traditionally we have seen a lot of low scores. Look for that again, even though a lot of the top golfers are taking the week off.

Bets to consider

Si Woo Kim 35-1

It is harder to have a much better history on a course than Kim has posted at Sedgefield. Since 2016, when he won, he has posted second-, third- and fifth-place finishes. There is one missed cut in there too, but it is hard to find someone with that level of recent success on a particular course back-to-back. His recent form is solid, too, with back-to-back top-15 finishes.

Will Zalatoris 16-1

This is chalky because he is at the top of the odds table, but 16-1 for that position is a really nice value. You know he is going to get that first win on the Tour at some point, and you don’t want to miss it. This feels like a perfect spot to break through for the first time.

Webb Simpson 18-1

Like Kim, Simpson has had a lot of success at Sedgefield. He won his first Tour event there, and 75% of the time he has finished in the top 11 on the course. He needs to play well to confirm his spot in the playoffs, but there is no reason to expect him to be tight given his success on the course in the past.

Taylor Pendrith 30-1

The Canadian has yet to win on the tour but he just finished second at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and has played well on courses like this one in the past. In this range, he is definitely worth a shot, especially in a lighter field overall.

Adam Scott 30-1

He was in the playoff of this event last year (eliminated on the first hole). Since then, he has been up-and-down, but as long as he is putting well, he can hang with the leaders this week. He has not won on the tour lately, but in a modest field, he has a great shot.
