The rollout of the first batch of the Semi Truck is in accordance with the announcements made by Elon Musk in August when he said that shipments of the 500-mile-range version of the Semi will begin before the end of 2022.
The Tesla Semi Truck can go from 0 to 60 miles an hour within 20 seconds when loaded to its maximum gross vehicle weight of 80,000 pounds. The truck comes powered with four independent motors for maximum power and acceleration aimed to cause low per-mile energy costs, as per Tesla.
As per the report, Tesla is making the first Semi Trucks close to the Gigafactory in Nevada, while it is expected to mass produce them at the Giga Texas site near Austin. The first prototypes of the Semi Truck were seen on the roads in 2019.
As regards to safety features, here is what’s claimed by Tesla: “Semi comes standard with active safety features that pair with advanced motor and brake controls to deliver traction and stability in all conditions. A central seating position gives the driver better visibility, while an all-electric architecture reduces both rollover risk and cabin intrusion in case of an accident.”
