Paytm September quarter net loss widens

New Delhi: One 97 Communications Ltd, the parent of digital payment giant , said on Saturday its net loss for the three months through September widened by 8.4% as expenses rose.

Paytm, reporting its earnings publicly for the first time since its market debut, registered a consolidated net loss of Rs 474 crore ($63.2 million) compared with Rs 437 crore in the same period a year earlier.

The company’s revenue rose 49.7% to Rs 1,135 crore.

“We have maintained the growth momentum in our payments services business, expanded our financial services business aggressively and are on our way to pre-Covid volumes for Commerce and Cloud services,” the company said in a statement.

Paytm raised $2.5 billion in what was India’s biggest IPO this month, but made a
dismal debut on bourses last week.

Paytm’s shares closed 0.86% lower at Rs 1,781.15 on Friday. On Thursday, its stock price on BSE closed at Rs 1,796.55, higher by Rs 43.40 or 2.48% from its previous close.
