The Central Board of Film Certification first refused to give a censor certificate for the film, and now a police complaint has been filed against the makers for insulting and disrespecting religion and promoting communal disharmony.

’72 Hoorain’ is directed by national award winning director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan. The film has released in English, Assamese, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Kannada, Kashmiri, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu.

In an interview to IndiaToday.in, he mentioned that because of recent films like The Kashmir Files and TheKerala Story, people are putting 72 Hoorain in the same category.
He also raised the point that if such films are being made, then nobody should have any problem with it. He also reiterated that 72 Hoorain was made even before The Kashmir Files had released, the director of the film Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan also won a National Award in 2019.
72 Hoorain was also screened at JNU. The makers feel there is a significant opportunity for Kashmiri Muslims and other students to voice their thoughts about a film that explores the harsh reality of terrorist camps.
Pawan also spoke about how he simply didn’t understand the ruckus created by The Kashmir Files, he mentions that when he saw the film, he felt the maker had hardly shown anything objectionable.
