Pathaan: Raees director Rahul Dholakia slams CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi for re-censoring Shah Rukh Khan starrer – Times of India
“What I really did not like was the whole idea of the film being re-censored. That is my whole thing… An already censored film was re-censored because of a morality view, that was the wrong thing to do by Prasoon Joshi and whoever the CBFC people were. Shouldn’t have done it; it sets the wrong precedent. And now, if you look at the number of people who’ve gone to see it, I want to know which morality group they were referring to. So, this whole idea of ‘public wants it to be censored’ is bulls**t. The public doesn’t want it. You want it. The public has come in large numbers to see it,” Rahul said in an interview with Connect FM Canada.
Pathaan marked the much-awaited comeback of Shah Rukh Khan into films after four years. It is the fourth movie in producer Aditya Chopra’s spy universe, following Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai, and War, featuring Hrithik Roshan.
The Siddharth Anand directorial, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in the lead, has become the all-time highest grossing Hindi film worldwide in just 10 days. The total worldwide gross collection stands at Rs 729 crore. While Pathaan’s domestic gross collection is Rs 453 crore, the film has collected Rs 276 crore in the overseas market.
