‘Pathaan assured of protection from Gujarat Government,’ says State’s Multiplex President – Exclusive – Times of India
Not taking this lightly, the Gujarat Multiplex Association had apparently written to the Home Minister of the Gujarat Government to look into the matter immediately. The letter was signed by the Gujarat Multiplex President, Manubhai Patel.
ETimes has it that the Gujarat Government has now told the state’s Multiplex Association that they have their full support. Speaking to ETimes last night, Manubhai Patel said, “We haven’t got any response from them in writing yet. But yes, they have assured us that we have their full support.”
Added Patel, “It was imperative that we had to take this step as such a big film is coming after a long time and we need safety.”
For those who’ve come in late, ‘Pathaan’ has met with objections from certain quarters after the SRK-Deepika ‘Besharam Rang’ song broke out online. Post that, reportedly, the Censor Board had asked for some cuts in the film.
Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi, during a recent speech, was quoted as saying, “We work hard day and night and then some of us make needless comments about films….. we should refrain from making unnecessary controversial comments”.
The PM’s comments have clearly come in the wake of some politicians making threats and asking people to boycott the film. The PM’s comments were hailed by many on social media.
‘Pathaan’ hits theatres on January 25. John Abraham plays the antagonist.
