Pakistan’s Babar Azam creates history, surpasses Virat Kohli to achieve THIS massive record
Pakistan captain Babar Azam on Sunday (October 3) created history by becoming the fastest batter to reach 7,000 runs in the T20 format. Babar’s feat is historic because he has surpassed legends like Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli to reach the milestone. The Pakistan skipper succeeded in achieving the milestone during the National T20 Cup match between Southern Punjab and Central Punjab in Rawalpindi.
Babar touched the 7000 runs mark in his 187th innings in T20 after crossing the 25-run mark during Central Punjab’s chase. It is to be noted that Gayle had scored 7,000 runs in T20 cricket in his 192nd innings while Kohli managed to hit the milestone in his 212th innings.
Out of 7,000 runs, Babar has scored 2,204 runs in the international matches where he has represented Pakistan in 61 matches. He has hit the runs at an average of 46.89 with one century and 20 half-centuries. Babar has also scored 3,058 runs in franchise cricket in 84 matches across Pakistan Super League, Caribbean Premier League, Bangladesh Premier League and England’s Vitality Blast.
Babar has scored 259 runs in six matches in National T20 Cup with one century and one fifty. Babar hit a scintillating hundred in the National T20 Cup last week for Central Punjab against Northern. Babar now holds the record for most hundred in the T20s for Pakistan.
Notably, Babar has also surpassed Kohli on the list of batters with the maximum number of hundreds in the T20s. Kohli has scored five hundred in T20 cricket in 315 games,w hile Babar has smashed six centuries in just 194 games.
