Paddy Pimblett says he WOULD fight Jake Paul after being offered $1million- but on HIS terms
Paddy Pimblett says he WOULD fight Jake Paul after being offered $1million – but says it would have to be on HIS terms as he prepares to fight Jared Gordon at UFC 282 next week
Paddy Pimblett is willing to box Jake Paul after being offered $1million by the polarizing fighter if he can beat him.
But the UFC star is not willing to fly to Puerto Rico, as Paul requested in a video on Tuesday, as he’s the co-main event at UFC 282 in Las Vegas on December 10.
However, if Paul can get to Las Vegas next week, Pimblett is willing to spar him after his UFC fight.
Paddy Pimblett has a 19-3 UFC record, but could yet box Jake Paul for $1million
‘Of course [I’m interested], but I’m under contract by the UFC and [Jake] said this knowing full well I’m fighting next week, know what I mean?’ Pimblett told TMZ Sports.
‘Come to the PI next week. Come to the [UFC Performance Institute] next week and bring $1 million in a bag and I will spar with you.’
‘I’m in the PI in Vegas on Thursday, I land on Thursday, so even though I’m low on calories and I’m only about 170, he likes picking on smaller people anyway,’ he added.
Jake Paul wants Paddy Pimblett to join his United Fighters Association if he beats him
‘But, if he wants to wait until after my fight, until the Monday, because I’m still in Vegas ’til the Tuesday, but I’m about 185, 190 pounds, I’m game!’
While Paul has offered $1million to Pimblett if he beats him, there is a catch in the deal.
Paul wants Pimblett to join his United Fighters Association if he wins, a union he’s in the process of creating to work towards better pay and healthcare for fighters.
The YouTuber-turned fighter made a similar bet with Anderson Silva prior to their fight on October 30, and the UFC legend has apparently stuck to his word after losing, according to Paul’s Twitter.
Paul proposed ‘five, three-minute rounds’ of boxing to Pimblett, who has a 19-3 UFC record.
Pimblett would not be the first UFC fighter that Paul has boxed against, as he’s also fought and beaten Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren.
While some people would argue Paul hasn’t been truly tested in the ring, he does own a 6-0 record, and Pimblett actually conceded he had some skills in the ring.
‘I don’t even think he’s a bad boxer,’ he said. I think he’s a decent boxer now ’cause all he’s done is boxing in the past two years. I think he’d beat Tommy Fury. I know he wouldn’t beat me.’
Pimblett is set to fight Jared Gordon on December 10 in Vegas.
