Paddy Pimblett calls for fight-changing strike against Jordan Leavitt to be listed as knockdown  

Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett has claimed he should be given an official knockdown for a knee on Jordan Leavitt in his submission win last month, as he had ‘never heard a sound like that from kneeing.’

The Liverpudlian fighter won in the second round from a rear-naked choke, but landed a ferocious knee on his opponent just seconds earlier.

Pimblett was awarded his third successive performance of the night award for the win.

After watching the fight back, he told BT Sport: ‘My knee was fat for like three days after that you know. I’ve never heard a sound like that from kneeing someone, it was bad.’

‘[Leavitt] confirmed it a few days later. It put him out. I dropped him with that knee, I want my official knockdown on the stats.’

On the swift conclusion of the fight after the knee, Pimblett said: ‘As soon as I had him in the hold it was over. Especially when I looked up and saw how long there was left on the clock.

‘I thought I’m either going to flatten him out and finish him with punches or I’m going to take his neck.’

After securing three consecutive finishes since signing with the UFC last year, Pimblett has set his sights on returning to the Octagon later this year eyeing a pay-per-view event set to take place in Las Vegas on December 10.

While no opponent has yet been determined for Pimblett’s return, a number of UFC fighters have been attempting to throw their name into the hat for a matchup with the rising star.
