Packers QB Aaron Rodgers attends minicamp after skipping OTAs

After passing on organized team activities this offseason, Aaron Rodgers is reportedly at the Green Bay Packers facility for mandatory minicamp this week.

While it isn’t uncommon for a veteran starting quarterback to skip OTAs, Rodgers’ presence continues to make headlines given his tumultuous relationship with Green Bay’s front office over recent seasons and ongoing speculation as to when he will retire.

The tension between Rodgers and the Packers at least appears to have subsided since he was signed to a four-year, $200 million contract extension this offseason. The deal, which includes $153 million guaranteed, makes Rodgers the league’s highest-paid player.

There are still questions as to how backup quarterback Jordan Love fits into the mix now that Rodgers is locked in to such a hefty deal. There are also questions as to whether Green Bay’s offense will be able to continue performing at an elite level after Rodgers’ favorite target, Davante Adams, departed for the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason. For the time being, though, it looks like Packers fans will just have to be happy that Rodgers is present and participating.
