Packers fans aren’t sure what to make of Matt LaFleur’s message about David Bakhtiari

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur provided a rather vague update on left tackle David Bakthiari.

The Green Bay Packers were without left tackle David Bakhtiari for the majority of the 2021 season due to a knee injury suffered the campaign prior. He played just one game, and was ruled inactive for the team’s Divisional Round game against the San Francisco 49ers.

This offseason, Bakhtiari sat out of organized team activities, but head coach Matt LaFleur was not stressing out over it. That message was two weeks ago. On June 14, LaFleur provided a rather vague update on the Pro Bowl offensive tackle regarding his status for training camp.

Matt LaFleur provides vague update on David Bakhtiari’s status

On May 31, LaFLeur said that he hopes that Bakhtiari will be good to go for training camp. Now, Packers fans are scratching their heads, wondering if the left tackle will be actually be ready.

Late in the 2020 season, Bakhtiari tore his ACL, forcing him to miss the team’s run to the NFC Championship Game that year. While the expectation was that he would be able to return midway through the 2021 campaign, he had to undergo another surgical procedure.

This offseason, the Packers already lost Billy Turner, Dennis Kelly and Lucas Patrick. Not to mention they also moved on from wide receivers Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Green Bay fans will obviously be worried about Bakhtiari’s status heading into training camp, but that is not for over a month away. Anything can happen, but LaFleur’s statement will not exactly inspire much confidence from the fanbase.
