Oscars 2023 nominations: Four Indian films in the race for Academy Award nods – Times of India
Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams have been roped in to host the Academy’s nominations presentation and announce the nominees for the 95th Oscars. Four Indian films were a part of the shortlists that were announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 10 categories in December 2022. RRR
SS Rajamouli’s RRR has been earning a lot of international acclaim for its song ‘Naatu Naatu’ and it seems likely that the movie will bag an Oscar nod too. The song made it to the list of 15 songs that were announced in the Original Song category.
Chhello Show aka The Last Film Show
Director Pan Nalin’s Gujarati film ‘Chhello Show’ (The Last Film Show) was announced as India’s official entry for the Oscars and it has made it to the shortlist for the International Feature Film category. It remains to be seen if the movie will advance to the final nominations for the 95th Academy Awards.
All That Breathes
Directed by Shaunak Sen, this film has been selected in the Documentary Feature Film category for the 95th Academy Awards. 144 films were eligible in this category and All That Breathes proudly made it to the 15 film shortlist.
The Elephant Whisperers
Directed by filmmaker Kartiki Gonsalves, this film has made it to the Documentary Short Film category shortlist for the 95th Academy Awards. A heartfelt nature documentary, ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ is available for viewing on OTT.
