On the Podcast: Celeb Stylist Kate Young Spills Her Secrets

In the wake of last week’s extremely online uproar surrounding the couture circus, Chioma and I sat down this week with uber celeb stylist Kate Young who just returned from Paris where she was Oscar shopping at couture. She took her teenage son, Stellan during a conveniently timed week off from school. I’s not every 14 year-old who gets to sit front row at Chanel couture!

Young styles a bevy of Hollywood A-listers from Jennifer Lawrence to Margot Robbie, Selena Gomez, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz. We asked her about the marathon of awards season and the behind the scenes nuts and bolts that go into securing a best dressed red carpet look from the complications of brand contracts to making sure the dress actually zips. Young started her career as Anna Wintour’s assistant (she wore Tom Ford for Gucci velvet pinstripe trousers to her interview, thank you for asking) and we heard all about her transition from editorial styling to celebrities.

I also asked Chioma to break down the drama behind The Cut’s Pyer Moss article questioning the state of Kerby Jean-Raymond’s brand that had so much promise, money and goodwill riding on it since its debut a decade ago. Chioma discussed the complicated dynamics at play but was mostly excited about the other news of the week, the announcement of Beyonce’s Renaissance tour dates which has set the Vogue staff aflutter. The only thing making me flutter this week is Marie Kondo’s admission that since having her third child she has “kind of given up” on tidying and is now a messy person which sent the mom-o-sphere reeling with rage, indignance and in some cases, like my own vindication. Were moms Kon-ed? Or finally seen. Listen to The Run Through with Vogue to find out!
