Police raid headquarters of Paris 2024 Olympics organising committee amid investigation into suspected corruption
- Paris 2024 organisers confirmed a search had taken place on Tuesday morning
- The raid comes with just over a year until the Games begin in the French capital
The headquarters of the Paris 2024 Olympics were raided by police on Tuesday as part of a corruption investigation.
A search was also made of the offices of Solideo, a company responsible for the construction of Olympic sites and venues in Paris.
The raids were conducted by anti-corruption and financial crime investigators, as well as the financial brigade of the Parisian police.
According to French sources, preliminary investigations have been launched into suspected embezzlement of public funds and suspected conflicts of interest and favouritism in contracts awarded.
Paris 2024 said they were ‘cooperating fully with the investigators to facilitate their inquiries.’

The news is an embarrassment for the International Olympic Committee ahead of a key meeting of their executive board this week.
French anti-corruption agency AFA highlighted risks of financial ‘probity’ two years ago. Inspectors said the procedure for purchases was ‘imprecise and incomplete’ and that there ‘exists potential situations of conflicts of interests which are not overseen correctly.’
