ODOP retailers join forces with Groyyo to boost sales and expand reach
NEW DELHI: Retailers participating in the One District One Product (ODOP) programme have been integrated into Groyyo’s e-commerce platform, according to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
Groyyo, a prominent player in the online marketplace, has collaborated with ODOP, an initiative by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. The aim of this collaboration is to create a platform for aggregators who sell ODOP-identified products.
The official launch of this partnership took place on July 3, 2023, with the primary objective of enhancing the distinctiveness of each district and promoting the visibility of ODOP products. By joining Groyyo’s e-commerce platform, retailers gain the opportunity to expand their customer base and gain insights into buyer preferences, thereby increasing the marketability of their products on a global scale.
Supriya Devasthali, Director of DPIIT, highlighted the significance of such collaborations in empowering artisans and enabling them to access a larger consumer market. She emphasised the government’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and creativity, creating a favourable ecosystem for artisans to thrive.
Groyyo’s platform already features a diverse range of ODOP products from different parts of the country. These include ceramics from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, coconut products from Kozhikode in Kerala, kani shawls from Budgam in Jammu and Kashmir, and bell metal craft from Bastar in Chhattisgarh. The e-commerce platform aims to expand its offerings to include additional categories such as wellness and jewellery.
Currently, ODOP has partnered with over 35 brands, covering approximately 100 districts across India. The initiative’s vision is to onboard more aggregators on the Groyyo platform, thereby increasing the accessibility and visibility of ODOP products.
The ODOP Programme is designed to create sustainable employment opportunities at the district level and promote comprehensive socio-economic development. Under this initiative, one unique product is selected, branded, and promoted from each district across the country.
