NYG ‘agree 4-year, $160million deal with Daniel Jones and use non-exclusive tag on Saquon Barkley’

The New York Giants have reportedly agreed to a four-year, $160million contract with quarterback Daniel Jones. 

According to multiple reports, Big Blue have given Jones a deal with an extra $35m in incentives. 

The deal left the door open for the Giants to keep Saquon Barkley, who had the non-exclusive franchise tag placed upon him.

This leaves a range of options open for Barkley’s future. He can negotiate with other teams, and should he agree to terms, the Giants have the option to match the contract.

If they were to choose otherwise, the East Rutherford franchise would receive two first-round picks.

Like Tony Pollard, of the rival Dallas Cowboys, Barkley will receive a 2023 salary of $10.09m, if he is to remain in New York. 

The Giants told Dailymail.com Tuesday afternoon that the moves were not yet official, but expected them to be finalized shortly.

Jones and Barkley were key to a Big Blue revival, which saw the previously struggling franchise make a surprise run to the playoffs. 

Brian Daboll’s team went on the road to Minnesota in the Wild Card round and left with a 31-24 win. 

The Giants’ season ended with a whimper though, after running into a ferocious Philadelphia team in the NFC Divisional round. 

Through 2022, Jones threw for 3,205 yards, 15 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. The former Duke quarterback had a passer rating of 92.5.

Jones also showed he can be a force with his legs, rushing for 708 yards and seven touchdowns.

Barkley earned himself a Pro Bowl spot for his season, running for a career-high 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns.
