Qiokata was jailed for a year – but was granted immediate parole after pleading guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm in a public place while intoxicated.

Spry sustained a fractured skull and eye socket, as well as bleeding on his brain.

The winger has no recollection of the assault – and the flyer was later cleared of any wrongdoing by Queensland police.

Spry sat out the majority of last season as he slowly recovered, and impressed for the Tweed Seagulls in the Queensland Cup once he was given the green light to return.

Now has the chance to play alongside the likes of international stars Kieran Foran and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui.
