Just last week, a couple in Greater Noida got their unyielding tenants to move out of their flat after sitting on a dharna outside the door.

Now, another elderly couple in the same area have taken recourse to the same modus operandi to evict their tenants who are still staying put after the rent deed expired.

Srichandra and wife Lalitesh Gupta (both 73) started a dharna on the stairs outside their sixth floor flat in Ace Aspire society of Techzone 4 in Greater Noida, TOI reported Sunday.

Yes, they got the idea after reading about how Sunil and Rakhi Gupta got their flat back last week.

Lalitesh Gupta told the media that they rented out their new apartment in March 2017, that it was not renewed until November 2021, and that the tenants refused to move out after the deed expired in March 2022. They said they couldn’t follow it up in person as as they were staying indoors due to the pandemic

“She ignores our calls and messages. So, we thought that the only way to get back our flat was to start a protest, the TOI report quoted her as saying.

The tenant at her house, a 56-year-old-woman who stays with her son, said the couple abruptly asked them to leave after she refused to increase rent. She said she only wanted time till November to shift to her home in Agra.
