Nothing Phone (1) is all over the internet once again, and this time it’s facing a lot of heat. If you still did not get to know, the latest news on the Nothing Phone (1) is that it will get the Android 13 update next year, precisely in the first half of the year.
Now, Nothing founder Carl Pei has reiterated that the Phone (1) will receive Android 13 only next year, as the company doesn’t want to “rush on updates at the expense of user experience.” However, Pei adds that they are aiming to roll out the beta version of NothingOS based on Android 13 later this year, which means that the Phone (1) users might get a taste of Android 13 this year itself.
When a Twitter user asked Carl Pei when the Phone (1) would receive Android 13, Pei’s reply was: “A product is more than just its specs, features, and version numbers.” Later the company said in a statement given to Android Authority that the Android 13-based build would be released in the first half of 2023 as the company needs time to fine-tune the software update for the Phone (1).
Nothing says that it will keep releasing frequent updates to Phone (1) users. In the last one month, the company has released three software updates addressing user complaints while also adding a few new features.
But around the time when Nothing Phone (1) will get the Android 13, the next iteration of Android would be in early beta testing. That is something to think about, considering how much Nothing boasted about software experience during the marketing. For now, we can just hope that Nothing stands on its promise and ships the update as soon as possible.
