notepad: Microsoft starts to rolls out new Notepad app with dark mode for Windows 11 – Times of India
Microsoft has announced that it has started to roll out the new Notepad app for Windows 11 users in the Beta Channel of the Windows Insider program. The redesigned app was unveiled by the company last year and it aligns with the design elements of the new operating system. The app comes with an updated UI including rounded corners, Mica, and more. One of the most awaited features of the new app is the dark mode. By default, Notepad will adapt to the user’s system theme preferences, but they can change this option themselves in the new settings page which is the new home for font options as well.
The company has also redesigned the find and replace experience on the app. Apart from this, the Notepad now comes with support for multi-level undo. The company announced about the release through a blog post where it also revealed about the bugs in the app.
“In the preview version we are releasing today, there are a number of known issues that we will be addressing in future updates. This includes issues affecting keyboard access keys usage for when switching between different input languages or while using Japanese IME, and under certain circumstances, you may notice unexpected behaviour when using shift-click to select text or when scrolling. We are also continuing to improve performance for when opening very large files” the blog read.
This week the company has also started to roll out the app for more users. The company has set the software requirement needed for the app to Windows 11 Build 22000 with an update, which means users can now install the app directly from the Microsoft store. The Media Player app replaces Microsoft’s default music player app – Groove Music in Windows 11 and Windows 10. The company has revealed that user’s Groover Music library and playlists will automatically migrate to the new app. The dedicated playback view features album art and artist imagery which will appear in both full screen and mini player.
