Not Samosa, Restaurant Sells Only Samosa Corners After Viral Twitter Poll

Just a mention of samosa gets Indians talking passionately about this evergreen snack. A crispy brown shell with spicy potatoes stuffed inside it, samosa is indeed delicious every single time. Have it with chutneys and sauces, or pair it with chole and even make a chaat out of it – samosa is also extremely versatile. A lot of samosa lovers often engage in a debate about which part of the humble snack is the most delicious. Is it the outer crust, or the filling or a bit of both? A Twitter user created a poll for his followers to vote about this, and it went viral in no time. Take a look:

Twitter users Shreyas Doshi asked his followers, “In a samosa, which part do you enjoy more?” The viral Twitter poll received over 10.7k votes and hundreds of comments and likes. A whopping 57.3% of the voters chose ‘the crust’ option over ‘the filling’.

If you thought this was just another Twitter poll about food with nothing happening after it ended, you couldn’t be farther from the truth. In fact, the poll got a popular samosa brand to sit up and take notice of the results. Then, they decided to launch a special item on their menu called ‘samosa corners’, which was nothing but the corner bits of a samosa that everyone loves. Take a look at the tweet here:

“The founder of @Samosa_Party just DM’ed me that they were inspired by my recent poll about samosa crust vs. filling and they’ve actually launched “Samosa Corners”,” wrote Shreyas Doshi in his tweet. The post has received over 1.5k likes and counting.

Twitter users reacted to the restaurant’s interesting way of using the viral poll. “They could serve the filling on the side,” suggested one user. “I had the exact same idea few days back and reading this news has made me beyond happy,” wrote another one. A few others felt that this dish was nothing but the simple namak pare or nimki that was a separate snack of its own. “Samosa corners are yum because of the rest of the samosa being not-so-crispy. Great food, like great design, is about balance, constraints, and contrast,” explained one user.
