Norwich are fighting to keep Max Aarons amid major interest from across Europe.

Italian sides Atalanta and Monza have both had loan enquires rebuffed for the right back, while Borussia Monchengladbach, managed by former Canaries boss Daniel Farke, have also seen an approach turned down.

His agents from New Era have also received further enquiries from interested parties this summer.

Aarons is understood to have received assurances that he can leave Carrow Road this summer should a suitable offer be submitted – but as of yet Norwich have fallen short of sanctioning his exit.

The defender has started all five of the Canaries’ Championship games so far this season – displaying his importance to manager Dean Smith.

The 22-year-old joined Norwich from Luton in 2016 and has made over 170 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals and making 15 assists.

Aarons has been an integral part of Norwich’s side since his breakthrough into the first team and has won two Championship titles with the Canaries.

The right-back has also earned a place in the Championship Team of the Year on two occasions, which has prompted numerous rumours of a move away from Carrow Road.

And Norwich are bracing themselves for further offers ahead of the transfer deadline this month.

Southampton are among the clubs in England monitoring Aarons’ situation, while Manchester United have been long term admirers for the former England Under-21 defender.

Smith’s side have moved up to fifth in the Championship table following back-to-back wins in the second tier.
