Norwich boss Daniel Farke fumes at Christos Tzolis for taking missed penalty against Liverpool

‘I will make sure he will never ever make this mistake again in his whole career’: Norwich boss Daniel Farke FUMES at Christos Tzolis for missing penalty against Liverpool as he was NOT the designated taker

Norwich boss Daniel Farke was very unhappy with Christos Tzolis following the Carabao Cup third round defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday night.

The Reds progressed to the last-16 due to a Takumi Minaimno double and Divock Origi header but the Canaries spurned a terrific chance to draw level in the first-half.

Tzolis’ tame penalty down the middle was saved by Reds keeper Caoimhin Kelleher and Farke revealed after the match that the Greek forward was not the designated penalty-taker on the night.

‘He’s made this mistake once,’ Farke said. ‘I will make sure he will never ever make this mistake again in his whole career.’

On the defeat, he added: ‘It is always difficult to stand here and explain another loss. I am of course disappointed and goals are decisive for winning football games. In general today we have created many, many chances against a good Liverpool side.

‘We created so many scenes and of course in the first half the best chance of the game was the penalty situation.’

Farke added that despite his team’s torrid Premier League start – zero points from their first five games – he is disappointed with their early exit from the cup competition.

‘We wanted to win the Carabao Cup and now we can’t. I am disappointed with this.

‘I know how much I measure this cup and I would like to win but we also had to be smart in our team selection and rest some players.

‘Overall I was pleased with our performance. We created so many situations but we were unable to convert our key chances.’
