No. 15 seed Princeton keeps advancing after crushing Missouri

Princeton’s Cinderella run is not coming to an end just yet. If anything, it seems to be getting stronger.

The No. 15 seed Tigers continued their improbable run on Saturday by absolutely dismantling the No. 7 seed Missouri Tigers, 78-63, to advance to the Sweet 16.

That win comes just one day after they pulled off one of the most stunning upsets of the tournament so far when they beat No. 2 seed Arizona. At least that game was close and came down to the end, with Princeton narrowly pulling off the upset.

This game quickly turned into a rout with Princeton almost leading the game wire-to-wire. Missouri’s only lead came with 17:57 to play in the first half and was only a 3-2 edge. From that point on it was all Princeton.

The driving for Princeton on Saturday was an outstanding showing from three-point range, going 12-of-33 from behind the arc. Ryan Langborg and Blake Peters were especially dominant from that range, combining to go 9-for-20 on those shots.

Princeton will now await the winner of Sunday’s Baylor-Creighton game in the Sweet 16 next week.

For Princeton, this will be its first trip to the Sweet 16 since 1967.

Prior to this season Princeton had only won two NCAA tournament games since 1982. It has already matched that total in this tournament with a chance to build on it next week.
