Nipsey Hussle murder case: Accused Eric R. Holder Jr.’s sentencing hearing gets postponed
Holder was convicted of first-degree murder in July for the death of Hussle in a parking lot outside the rapper’s store in South Los Angeles on March 31, 2019. The court also found Holder guilty of attempted voluntary homicide after the gunfire injured two other people.
A minor tiff led to the shooting
Nipsey Hussle and Eric Holder grew up in the same place and belonged to the same gang, the Rollin’ 60s. Prosecutors claimed Holder was outraged over claims that he was a snitch and that his shooting of Hussle in front of his store was intentional. Holder hit him at least 10 times.
According to Deputy District Attorney John McKinney, Holder kicked him in the head and ran. Images shown in court showed him fleeing the scene with a semiautomatic weapon. Aaron Jansen, Holder’s lawyer, characterised the shooting as an act of passion, arguing that Holder had no time to calm down after his intense talk with Hussle and came back to the store with a revolver.
