Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has responded to those criticizing his decision to hire inexperienced coach Jeff Saturday.
Irsay fired Frank Reich last Monday and moved swiftly to appoint Saturday, who has not coached at the league level, nor college football.
The call came as a surprise in the NFL world and was met with condemnation given Saturday’s resume.
But the new coach guided the struggling team to a 25-20 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders Sunday, snapping their three-game losing streak.
It was reported earlier today that top Colts executives desperately tried to talk Irsay out of hiring Saturday and now Irsay has fired back at critics.
