Newcastle handed FIVE major fitness boosts with Wilson and Bruno fit to face Fulham this weekend
EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle handed FIVE major fitness boosts with Wilson and Bruno fit to face Fulham this weekend and Saint-Maximin hopeful of making the bench… Anderson and Shelvey may also feature but £60m Isak is OUT
- Five Newcastle stars may be fit to play Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday
- Striker Callum Wilson and Bruno Guimaraes are ready to declare themselves fit
- Winger Allan Saint-Maximin has a chance of making the bench after a knock
Newcastle have been handed a much-needed quintet of fitness boosts ahead of Saturday’s trip to Fulham – but that is offset against injuries to £60million club-record signing Alexander Isak, Chris Wood and Matt Ritchie.
Sportsmail understands both Callum Wilson and Bruno Guimaraes are ready to declare themselves fit for the weekend, while Allan Saint-Maximin has a chance of making the bench.
Given the trio are arguably Eddie Howe’s most valuable offensive players, it will be a huge tonic for the head coach as the Magpies seek their first win since the opening day of the season.

Added to that, midfielder Elliot Anderson has trained this week after withdrawing from the Scotland Under-21s squad with a hamstring complaint.
We can also reveal Jonjo Shelvey has made quicker than expected progress in his recovery from a hamstring layoff and is nearing a return. Initial fears were that he would be sidelined until late October.
The midfielder will not make the game at Craven Cottage, but Wilson and Bruno are expected to start.
Number nine Wilson is back after sitting out the last five matches with a hamstring strain, while the thigh injury which forced Bruno to miss Brazil’s recent friendlies is not serious.

New signing Alexander Isak, however, is set to sit out the match after picking up a leg injury
However, striker Isak will be absent this weekend and Newcastle are awaiting more information on the leg injury which saw him withdraw from the Sweden squad last week. It is not thought to be a long-term problem.
We understand fellow frontman Wood, meanwhile, will have a scan on the rib injury he picked up playing for New Zealand and is unlikely to feature at Fulham.
And there was a further blow for Howe when utility man Ritchie suffered a calf injury in training last week. There is hope his layoff will be minimal.
Goalkeeper Karl Darlow (ankle) and defender Emil Krafth (knee) remain longer-term absentees.
