Newcastle were unable to make it seven wins on the trot as they were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Leeds at St James’ Park.
In an end-to-end contest, both teams looked for an opening in the pouring rain, but despite Joelinton and Jack Harrison going close, the game remained goalless at the break.
The hosts upped the ante after the interval, but continued to be wasteful in front of goal, with Sean Longstaff missing two golden opportunities to put his side in front, while Fabian Schar was denied by a brilliant save from Illan Meslier. Despite piling on the pressure in the closing stages, Newcastle could not find that elusive goal, as Leeds held on for a hard-earned point.
