New York Jets wide receivers coach Miles Austin has been suspended for a year
A statement from Miles Austin’s attorney was reported by Mike Garafolo as saying: ‘The NFL suspended Miles Austin for wagering from a legal mobile account on table games and non-NFL professional sports.
‘Miles did not wager on any NFL game in violation of the Gambling Policy for NFL Personnel.
‘He has been fully cooperative with the NFL’s investigation. He is appealing his suspension.’
The Jets lost 19-3 to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night and Miles did not coach in that game.
Miles is the second high-profile NFL suspension this year due to gambling, after Calvin Ridley of the Atlanta Falcons was banned in March for betting on NFL games in 2021.
Ridley has been suspended for the entirety of the 2022 season but in that time, has been traded to Jaguars – who he will return to next year.
