New Jersey Restaurant Launches New ‘Modi Ji Thali’ Ahead Of PM’s Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon be going on a state visit to the United States. US President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden will be hosting PM Modi for a state dinner on June 22. Apart from the official dinners, there is another food element to the Prime Minister’s visit that has caught our attention. Ahead of PM Modi’s visit to the United States, a restaurant in New Jersey has decided to honour him with the release of a special thali. Titled as ‘Modi Ji Thali’, the dish has been created by chef Shripad Kulkarni. Take a look:

As per the video by ANI, the dishes in the thali range from khichdi to rasgulla, sarso da saag to Kashmiri dum aloo. There are also accompaniments like idli, dhokla, kothimbir vadi, chaach, and papad in the special Modi Ji thali. Meanwhile, the restaurant has also prepared some dishes and feasts to promote the awareness of millets, as the United Nations has declared 2023 as the ‘International Year of Millets’. They are also planning to launch a thali to honour External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar soon.

“We plan to launch this thali soon. I’m very positive that it’s going to gain popularity. Once this does well I also plan to launch a Dr Jaishankar Thali, because he too has that rockstar appeal amongst the Indian American community,” said the restaurant owner.

Interestingly, this is not the first time a restaurant has launched a thali dedicated to PM Modi. Last year, on PM Modi’s birthday on September 17, a Delhi-based restaurant in Connaught Place launched a Thali named 56-inch Narendra Modi Thali. The huge thali had over 56 items with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
