New details emerge about footy superstar Dustin Martin’s topless groping video; AFL boss speaks out

Fresh details have emerged about the wild video showing AFL superstar Dustin Martin jiggling a topless woman’s breast as she sits on another man’s lap.

After the footage was leaked on social media on Wednesday, it has since been confirmed the vision is from 2015.

The AFL is said to be ‘seeking further information’ and league league CEO Gillon McLachlan has described the vision as ‘a poor look’ for the competition.

In the footage, Martin can be seen carrying drinks to a table while a half-naked woman sits on the lap of another man, who hasn’t been identified.

Martin then slides his hand under the woman’s arm from behind and grabs her breast before walking away.

The footage, which has been leaked on the eve of the AFL finals, shows the Richmond star handing the woman a drink before reaching around to fondle her chest from behind

The three-time premiership winner with Richmond was 23 or 24 at the time and club officials have conceded it ‘isn’t a good look’.

An AFL source indicated the gathering at the time was not organised by the club, the venue was not a strip club, and the club was unaware of the existence of the footage until it became public, The Age reported.

It is believed the AFL will talk to Martin about the matter after the elimination final on Thursday night against the Brisbane Lions.

McLachlan refused to be drawn on whether the Tigers star could be punished over the matter, saying: ‘You need the facts and the circumstances, I don’t have any information.’

He added: ‘At first pass, the video, it’s a poor look but I don’t have any further information … about Dustin’s relationship to the woman, her views, the circumstances.’

Champion midfielder Martin will make his long-awaited return to the AFL after missing the last few rounds of the season due to a hamstring injury.

Martin, 31, also took personal leave at the start of the season while grieving the death of his father Shane and has been linked to a move to Sydney in 2023.

Tigers coach Damien Hardwick said he was unaware of the video on Wednesday.

‘There’s just an old video of what looks like from 2017 of Dusty online on Twitter this afternoon, I think at a Richmond event. Are you aware of that, have you seen that video?’ 7 News reporter Tom Browne asked.

‘No. I’m not too sure,’ Hardwick replied.

Martin, who is notoriously private, has been recovering from a hamstring injury since round 16.

In July, the star player launched fitness and wellbeing app, DRIP, alongside friends from his tight-knit inner circle, which features workouts and training plans.

Hardwick recently said given all the midfielder has achieved at the club, his next move will come with the blessing of his coach.

‘Whatever Dustin’s decision is moving forward is up to Dustin and, to be honest, he has my blessing. What he’s given me, us, our fans has been incredible,’ the Tigers boss said at a press conference last month.

Martin had a rough 2021, missing several matches after lacerating a kidney during a match versus Brisbane in July, after which he lost 10kg.

His father Shane – who had ties to the infamous Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang – died suddenly in New Zealand in December 2021 aged just 54.

The pair had been kept apart, with Shane living in New Zealand since 2016 after being kicked out of Australia when his visa was cancelled over his gangland connections.

Martin was unable to visit his dad in New Zealand due to Covid-19 restrictions, with the father and son only reunited in April last year.

‘It’s been a massive challenge, but it is what it is,’ Dustin said in March, just months before his father was found dead on his kitchen floor.

‘I love my dad and he’s made me the man I am today.’

Martin spent his final years running a local trucking business before he was found dead in December 2021 in his Mount Maunganui home, 200km south east of Auckland, due to natural causes.

The Richmond superstar is the middle child of three boys and in his father’s eyes, the one who connected with him the most.

Even from a young age he was footy mad, with his father recalling the many nights Dusty would tuck himself into to bed with his football.

‘I used to go to sleep with all of my kids, but when I did with Dusty, he’d be asleep clinging to me and in between us would be a football,’ Martin said.
