Neil Nitin Mukesh: Initially people doubted my capabilities and I was left with no choice – Times of India

Every actor has a dream to make an entry in Bollywood with a big fat commercial project. However, Neil Nitin Mukesh’s journey has been different. The actor, irrespective of the fact that he hails from a film family, made his debut with Johnny Gaddar. The thriller was well appreciated and Neil was applauded for his performance, yet it wasn’t a conventional kind of film actors would usually make a debut with.

About his choice, Neil says, “A lot of people had their doubts on whether I would be able to act. I was left with no choice, but to jump and grab the opportunity. I think it was also the correct way to probably explain people how I look at films. We need to progress with time. Storytelling is changing. I have always felt that there is not one path that I want to take, but explore multiple paths here. A great story will lead my way. I am not going to limit myself as an actor, but at the same time I have to be a little sensible somewhere and commercially balance myself.”

He further adds, “So, while I do a film like Johnny Gaddar, I also do a commercial film like New York, while I still have my heart into a film like Jail, I will still do Players at the same time. I did a multi-lingual cross-border film like Saaho, but at the same time did a Bypass Road. With this balancing act that I have done somewhere I got to enjoy fame and popularity, but at the same time explore my talent as an artiste. I got to explore both sides of the coin. I am looking forward to continue the journey as there are great stories, great cinema and of course great work that is coming my way.”
