Naseeruddin Shah defends his unflattering comments about Dilip Kumar after the legendary actor’s demise | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

After legendary actor Dilip Kumar’s demise, Naseeruddin Shah’s comments kicked up a social media storm. Back then, the veteran actor, in his eulogy for a news daily, claimed that Dilip Kumar ‘left behind no significant lessons for young actors’ and didn’t ‘bother’ to groom the young generation of actors. Now, speaking to a media outlet, Naseeruddin has said that he will always stand by what he said. The actor believes that death not only invites warm eulogies but should also open the door for truthful analysis of a person and his/her legacy.
Naseeruddin adds that if people got offended after what he wrote about Dilip Kumar then it’s up to them because he had shared what he felt then. He also insists that he admired the legendary actor, but in many ways, he was also disappointed by him. The seasoned actor further claimed that when everyone was praising Dilip Kumar he felt that little analysis wasn’t wrong.
The ‘Kuttey’ actor also recalled an incident from his younger days, when Dilip Kumar tried to dissuade him from pursuing acting. Naseeruddin revealed Dilip Kumar told him that people from decent families don’t join the film business. Since he is from a good family and his father is respectable, he should forget all this and go back home. Naseeruddin says that if he had the courage, he would’ve asked him how he ended up in showbiz then.

Meanwhile, earlier this week the veteran actor grabbed headlines for his comments about the controversial film ‘The Kerala Story’. During an interview, he mentioned that worthwhile films like Bheed, Afwaah, and Faraaz have collapsed at the box office. But people are flocking to see ‘The Kerala Story’, which he hasn’t seen, and doesn’t want to see as he has read enough about it.
