It’s no secret that Naomi Campbell had a special relationship with the late and great Azzedine Alaïa. Not only did the industry luminaries have a close-knit designer and muse dynamic, they considered one another family.
Over the years, the model has consistently waved the flag for Alaïa, be it at runway shows, in campaigns, or while making notable public appearances decked out in full looks (the iconic beaded sleeveless turquoise number she wore to celebrate the designer’s inaugural exhibition at the Palais Galliera in Paris springs to mind). Fast forward to now, and following Pieter Mulier’s recent appointment as creative director of the Parisian maison, Naomi still shows her unwavering support.

For a Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey yesterday, Campbell—who happens to be the Global Ambassador for the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust—wore a custom Alaïa ensemble that did not skimp on drama. The look comprised a wrap-around top, fish-tail skirt, double-breasted blazer, and beret that were all adorned with the same Prince of Wales check print in grey. The supermodel accessorized the look further with crimson red leather gloves and oversized black sunglasses, as well as a Le Papa bag and Coeur shoes from the brand’s fall 2022 collection.
