Music director RP Patnaik talks about his rapport with singer KK: I had found a good friend and powerful ally – Times of India
Soon after the news surfaced, reactions started pouring in from every section of society. Tollywood renowned music director RP Patnaik expressed his shock over the untimely death of KK and talked about his rapport with KK, in an exclusive chat with him.
RP Patnaik said, ”I am really sad and shocked on hearing this piece of news. It is very sad to digest. I am a big of his songs. His ‘Tadap Tadap’ song is one of my favourite songs of all time. Even director Teja garu loved this song, and we both approached him to sing ‘Nee Kosame’ song for our film, ‘Nuvvu Nenu’. It was a chartbuster. That’s where our friendship started. He was a great human being, had a fantastic personality, was such a good friend. He never says no to lend his voice for my songs. One day he got a call from a popular musician from Kolkata, but he first preferred to come to Hyderabad to sing a song from my film and then went to Kolkata. That’s defining our friendship. Even in other languages concerts, KK sings a couple of lines of ‘Nee Kosame’ and fondly remembers his connection with Telugu. I deeply pray that may his soul rest in peace.”
KK was an Indian playback singer and occasional music composer and was known for his modulated voice. The 53-year-old singer KK was born to Kerala parents, but was settled in Delhi. Over the course of some 25 years, KK recorded songs for more than 700 Indian films, giving voice to noble heroes onscreen. KK is survived by his wife Jyothy and son Nakul Krishna Kunnath, and daughter Tamara Kunnath.
