Mumbai rainfall: IMD issues yellow and orange alerts for this week
Rain lashes several parts of Mumbai during the wee hours on Wednesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted has issued an orange and a yellow alert for the city, predicting heavy rainfall from Thursday onwards.
From today (July 5), IMD indicated increased rain activity in Mumbai.
The Met Department, in its latest weather bulletin, predicted isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over the Konkan, Goa, and Western Ghat areas of central Maharashtra during the next five days with isolated extremely heavy falls in the region on Wednesday and Thursday.

Colaba: This region is expected to receive rainfall till Friday with a generally cloudy sky
Santacruz: Cloudy sky with heavy rain likely in Santacruz till Thursday. The IMD predicted moderate rainfall on Friday and Saturday and light showers on Sunday and Monday.
Worli: Heavy rainfall is likely to occur till Friday with moderate showers on Saturday.
Mulund: At Mulund, the weather department predicted heavy rainfall till Thursday. It will receive moderate rain on Friday and Saturday, and light showers on Sunday and Monday.
Borivali: Heavy rains with a cloudy sky are expected in Borivali till Thursday. During the weekend, the rain may get moderate.
The resurgence of rainfall activity in Mumbai is because a cyclonic circulation is lying over the southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal in the middle tropospheric level. “We are expecting a low pressure to form off the Andhra coast around 4-5 July which will increase the rain activity in the city,” an IMD official said.
