Multisearch is Google’s new feature for India: What it does, how to use and more – Times of India

Google announced a host of India-specific features at an event. One of those features is Multisearch which makes it easier for users to search better about anything.
What is Multisearch and how does it work?
Simply put, Multisearch makes it easier for users to search for information using images and text simultaneously. Google says that it uses advancements in artificial intelligence, which is making it easier to “understand the world around you in more natural and intuitive ways.”

How to use Multisearch?

Using the feature is actually quite easy. Simply open the camera in the Google app to take a picture or use a screenshot, then add text to your question – just as you would naturally point at something and ask about it, says Google. Users can search for varied things from online shopping to finding out recipes. Multisearch is available in English in India, and will be coming to many Indian languages in the next year, starting with Hindi, says Google.
Google announced the Multisearch feature first in the US earlier this year. To give a better idea of how multisearch works, Google cites a few examples. For example, you can screenshot a particular dress which is say in red colour but you want it in green. One can simply screenshot the dress and add the query “green” to find it in another colour. Similarly, if you have a plant in your house and want to know how to take care of it then take a picture of the plant and add the query “care instructions”.
Videos have become a source of information but Google feels that it’s often hard to find something buried inside a long clip. Google is also piloting a new feature which will allow users to search for anything that’s mentioned in a video, right from Search. “Simply enter a search term using the ‘Search in video’ feature and quickly find what you’re looking for,” said Google.
