Veteran actor Gufi Paintal left for his heavenly abode on Monday, June 5 after suffering from age-related health issues. His ‘Mahabharat‘ co-star Mukesh Khanna remembered the late actor and recalled the time he spent with him.
Talking to a news portal, Mukesh revealed that he was in touch with Gufi’s son for a week now. According to him, he was hospitalised and it was a long-drawn case. Mukesh also added that his condition deteriorated. Dialysis was conducted. He went into semi-coma. He gained a little consciousness yesterday and the doctor said that it was a miracle but his condition worsened. His kidney was affected.
Khanna also recalled his last conversation with Gufi where he asked him about his health and the late actor told him he wasn’t well.

The ‘Shaktimaan‘ actor revealed that it was Gufi who had cast him for Mahabharat. According to him, Gufi is the one person from the entire Mahabharata team he was more attached to. he added that they had several confrontation scenes in Mahabharat. He also revealed that Gufi used to handle the entire Mahabharata including casting.
Mukesh and Gufi’s association did not stop with Mahabharat. They also worked together in ‘Shaktimaan’.

Gufi’s son Harry Paintal shared a note announcing his demise. He wrote, “With profound grief we announce the sad demise of our father Mr. Gufi Paintal (Shakuni Mama). He passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by family.”
