Morehead State takes on UAB in second round action of the 2023 NIT Tournament in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Blazers are looking to send out star guard, Jordan “Jelly” Walker on a high note with a postseason tournament run, and will need to take care of Morehead State as double digit favorites on Sunday.

For the Eagles to stay in this game, they are going to need to slow down an explosive UAB offense. While Morehead State lacks the ball pressure to make the Blazers uncomfortable, they are an elite defensive rebounding team, which can limit UAB to one trip down the court and the team can run their preferred offense, one of the slowest in the country.
Morehead State is 351st in terms of average possession length this season as it tries to grind games to a halt and limit their opponents chances.
UAB was able to win 88-60 in the first round of the NIT against Southern Mississippi, a team that tracks in the top third nationally in terms of adjusted tempo, but this game will be far different with Morehead State crashing the glass and slowing this game down.
Even if the Blazers win big like oddsmakers expect, I believe this game goes under the total due to Morehead State’s slow tempo and offensive drawbacks.
