More wild weather to lash Sydney
Parts of NSW, including Sydney, have been hammered by rain and hail ruining ‘picnic day’ celebrations for many. Here’s when sunny days will return.
Sydneysiders face a drenching for the next four days before those who are fully vaccinated can take proper advantage of the opportunity to picnic with friends.
The first day of eased restrictions on outdoor recreation was spoiled on Monday by a sudden drop in temperatures and rainfall over parts of NSW.
The drizzling cold isn’t meant to fully let up until Sunday, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
Until then, expect chilly and rainy days.
The rest of Tuesday will be cloudy and rainy, with a maximum temperature of 17C, the bureau’s forecast says.
Wednesday and Thursday appear similar, with a partial cloud cover, showers and maximum temperatures of 18 degrees.
During Friday and Saturday, the chance of rain will diminish and the mercury will begin creeping upwards.
On Saturday there is a slight chance of rain in the afternoon and a maximum temperature of 25C.
Sunday will be the first day with proper picnic weather, with a 25C maximum, a mostly sunny sky and very low chance of rain.
That day will set the stage for a dry and hot beginning of next week, with cloud-free skies and 27C expected on Monday.
Since Monday, fully vaccinated NSW residents who don’t live in a council area of concern can congregate outdoors in groups of up to five.
