Recent poll conducted by Corning Gorilla Glass’ Consumer Survey suggests that Indians prefer more camera sensors.
Do you really need four or more cameras on your phone to take good photos? Critics don’t agree and are often happy with just a single good camera. That is, however, not the case with Indian consumers, as was always known. Based on a recent research data, it has come out that a majority of Indians prefer having as many cameras on the back of their phone as possible, since they assume the photo quality is directly proportional to the number of cameras!
Based on the findings from Corning Gorilla Glass’ Consumer Survey that was done recently, this surprising data has come forward. According to the findings, almost 63 percent of Indian consumers prefer their smartphones to have at least three camera lenses to capture the best photos and videos. And that is not all! There are more interesting findings in this regards.
Indians and their phone cameras: An interesting find!
The research also brought up more interesting observations regarding Indian consumers and their preferences on smartphone cameras. The biggest one was the almost 94 percent of the participants believed that the number of camera lenses on a smartphone impact the photo quality. This is highly a misconception and goes on to show how smartphone brands influence the Indian buyers with bold claims. Hence, those macro cameras and depth cameras you see on those budget smartphone exist because consumers actually want that.
It also came out that almost 42 percent Indian consumers prioritise the camera and brand while buying a new smartphone, as poised to the 36 percent of those who consider the price. Also, almost 34 percent of Indian smartphone users flagged scratched camera lens as one of their biggest concerns.
The survey also found that the most important characteristics of smartphone camera lens for Indian users is Image clarity, Light capture, and Drop resistance. Indian consumers also seek high megapixels the most, followed by the HDR capability and the Zoom range.
