Months after recovering from a fatal attack, Salman Rushdie plans to write about it in his next book – Times of India
Rushdie also revealed that though his recovery might take longer, but it wouldn’t be completely back to normal. “The eye is not coming back. The eye is lost. The hand that was badly damaged is recovering quite well with a lot of therapy. And the other wounds are getting better. There’s a lot of therapy that’s needed. Obviously, there was a quite a lot of PTSD. But I’m getting better,” he told Karl Vick from Time.
The Booker Prize-winning author also shared that he plans to write about the attack on him in his next book, as this would help him cope with it. “One of the things I am doing is finding a way to write about what happened. Whatever is published next is very likely to be a text about that. For me, that’s a way of kind of taking charge of it. I’m still working out exactly how it might go. I can’t say a lot about it, except that it’s my intention to do it and I’m working on it,” Rushdie shared in the interview.
It is noted that Rushdie is one of the authors in Time’s list of 100 Most Influential People of 2023. Other writers in the list include: Colleen Hoover, Padma Lakshmi, Neil Gaiman, Suzan-Lori Parks, among others.
Meanwhile, Rushdie’s latest novel ‘Victory City’ was released a months after the attack on him in 2022. The story is set in 14th century southern India.
