Monsoon tracker: IMD predicts light rains in Delhi-NCR today. Full forecast here
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds over most places of Delhi and its adjoining areas.
As per IMD, “Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with speed of 30-50 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of most places of Delhi (Safdarjung, Lodi Road, IGI Airport, Ayanagar), NCR (Loni Dehat, Bahadurgarh, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, Ballabhgarh) Sonipat, Rohtak, Kharkhoda, Charkhi Dadri, Mattanhail, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar, Kosali, Sohana, Palwal, Nuh, Aurangabad (Haryana)”, IMD informed in a statement.
The weather office further added that some parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan will also receive moderate-intensity rain today.
“Gulaoti, Sikandrabad, Bulandshahar, Jahangirabad, Shikarpur, Khurja, Pahasu, Debai, Gabhana, Jattari, Atrauli, Khair, Aligarh (U.P.) Bhiwari, Tizara (Rajasthan) during the next 2 hours”, IMD said.
Earlier on Saturday, a Met spokesperson said that the maximum temperature in Rajasthan is expected to rise by 2-5 degrees Celsius next week. According to the Meteorological Centre Jaipur, “There is a possibility of rain and thunderstorms at isolated places in Bikaner, Jodhpur division and the Shekhawati region on 4-5 June.”
Due to the increase in maximum temperatures by 2-5 degree Celsius, the weather is likely to be humid, the Met office said. In some parts of Kota and Jodhpur divisions, the maximum temperature is likely to hit 42-43 degrees Celsius on June 6-7, it said.
Rain predictions by IMD
IMD has also predicted light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds very likely over Kerala, Lakshadweep, South Interior Karnataka and isolated activity over Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh during next 5 days.
As per the weather office, heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Kerala on 5th June and over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during 3rd-6th June.
Heat wave prediction
IMD has predicted rise in maximum temperatures by 4-6°C very likely over plains of Northwest India during next 5 days and by 2-3°C over Central India during next 2 days.
Heat wave conditions very likely to continue in isolated pockets over Bihar and West Bengal and Sikkim during 3rd-7th June; likely to prevail over Vidarbha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh on 3rd & 4th June and southeast Uttar Pradesh 6th & 7th June.
Due to humid air & high temperature, Hot and Discomfort weather is very likely over central Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra on 3rd and 4t June.
