MLB: Nathan Eovaldi ‘agrees to a $34m, two-year deal with Texas Rangers’
Free agent Nathan Eovaldi ‘agrees to a $34m, two-year deal with the Rangers’ to create Texas sized pitching rotation after already inking Jacob deGrom for $185m
World Series winning starting pitcher and 2018 All Star Nathan Eovaldi has reportedly agreed to sign with the Texas Rangers.
Eovaldi’s contract will be a two-year deal worth $34million and includes a third-year player option, according to ESPN.
The deal also includes performance-based bonuses that could increase it’s value beyond that figure.

Texas will also have to surrender a third-round draft pick due to Evoaldi rejecting the qualifying offer extended to him by the Boston Red Sox. The Rangers already had to surrender their second-round pick after signing Jacob deGrom from the New York Mets.
Eovaldi, who will be 33 years old on February 13, went 6-3 with a 3.87 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and 103 strikeouts in 109.1 innings, in 20 starts for the Boston last season.
He is perhaps best known for his tremendous playoff run for the World Series-winning 2018 Red Sox.

In 22.1 innings, he posted a 1.61 ERA and won two crucial game three starts in both the American League Division and Championship Series. The run ended when he surrendered a walk-off homerun to Dodgers’ Max Muncy after six innings of relief, in a game that stretched to the 18th inning.
Eovaldi will join a rotation that has now turned into one of the most stacked in baseball.
The Rangers rotation will now feature a combination of deGrom, Eovaldi, Martain Perez, Jon Gray, Jake Odorzzi, and Andrew Heaney.
Texas will be hoping that the revamped pitching staff will help the team finish with much better than the 68-94 season they struggled to put together last season.
