MLB launch review after umpire C.B. Bucknor refuses to shake St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol’s hand before exhibition game with official blasted for ‘lack of class as a man’
Major League Baseball are currently reviewing an exchange between St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol and umpire C.B. Bucknor.
Marmol gave some explosive thoughts on Bucknor after he refused to shake hands prior to the beginning of a spring training game vs. Washington Saturday.
The pair have history, with Bucknor ejecting the St. Louis manager back in August – after a controversial, incorrect call – which led to a heated verbal stoush.
Bucknor and Marmol had to be eventually separated by one another by crew chief Jeff Nelson.
It seems Bucknor hasn’t forgotten, nor forgiven Marmol for that moment in time.
‘I don’t think he’s good at his job, and it just shows a lack of class as a man,’ Marmol said postgame.

‘I went into that game pretty certain of my thoughts on him as an umpire,’ the Cardinals’ second-year manager continued.
‘They weren’t very good and it shows his lack of class as a man. I chose my words wisely.’
‘It’s not an olive branch, it’s just respect. You can have disagreements. You still go to home plate.
‘Any time I get thrown out of a game, I will go to home plate the next day for that very purpose.
‘It’s unfortunate. I went out to home to shake his hand. He didn’t want to. He has zero class.’
MLB said in a statement to ESPN: ‘We are aware of Mr. Marmol’s comments, and the matter is under review.’
