Mithun Chakraborty wraps up Kolkata schedule of ‘Projapati’, next destination Varanasi – Times of India

Ever since Avijit Sen’s next film ‘Projapati’ was announced it grabbed everyone’s attention, especially because of the star cast. The family drama has Dev, Mithun Chakraborty, Mamata Shankar, Sweta Bhattacharya, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Kharaj Mukherjee and others in pivotal roles. On Thursday, Dev took to his Twitter handle to announce the Kolkata schedule wrap of ‘Projapati’ sharing a picture of Mithun Chakraborty. He also revealed that the next schedule will start in Banaras. ‘Projapati’ went to the shooting floors on July 5.

Mithun Chakraborty and Mamata Shankar, the celebrated pair from Mrinal Sen’s Mrigayaa (1976) have reunited for the film after 46 years. The family drama revolves around a heartwarming tale of a father and his son.

Mithun has already said that one of the main reasons he is doing this film is because of his affection for Dev. The veteran actor now only agrees to be part of the films whose stories touch his heart and he believes the story of ‘Projapati’ will attract cine lovers.

Sharing his thoughts on working with Mamata Shankar after so many years the veteran actor revealed that he doesn’t have any idea why any filmmaker didn’t think of casting them together in all these years. But he feels now the time has arrived and there’s always a right time for telling every story.

An excited Mamata Shankar has said that she will have an important contribution to the father and son’s bonding in the narrative.
