‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’ Twitter Reviews: Tom Cruise debuts in theatres; fans declare it as ‘best action film of the decade’ | English Movie News – Times of India

A year after dominating the box office with his film ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, Tom Cruise is back with another high-flying spectacle, ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One‘.
The film which had an early release in theatres on Wednesday, July 12, opened to rave reviews by fans and critics alike. The film which scored a near-perfect 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, won rave reviews from theatre audiences calling it “a truly amazing movie – the best of the series so far.
‘Dead Reckoning’, the seventh instalment of the ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise, is a state-of-the-art action extravaganza, made with star power, practical effects and over-the-top stunt work. Those who caught the early screenings on the opening day in theatres, said, “Dead Reckoning ticks all the boxes to be the finest product out of this Action Franchise and gives us the adrenaline rush throughout the film, be it the best stunt sequences or the fantabulous screenplay, this is huge Winner PS – watch it in IMAX to feel it.”
Another said, “Dead Reckoning: Part One is an explosive entry into the franchise giving us some of the best set-pieces to date, but also a deep narrative to sink our teeth in. Standout performances from Atwell and Klementieff make this instalment exciting and worthwhile. Absolutely ADORED Hayley Atwell’s Grace. What an excellent addition to the franchise with an impeccable performance to boot. Excited to see more of her going forward.”
“Part One was absolutely incredible. The best M:I instalment and it’s not even close. From start to end it keeps you engaged, and ready for Part Two. My entire theatre was cheering and laughing along with the film. Peak cinema,” wrote another in a post.

Going by the Twitter reviews, all seemed to agree that the film is ‘the best’ of the franchise and may even be the best action movie of the decade. “MI is the best movie I’ve seen this year. Whatever they put in pre-workout is laced in every scene. TC is him. Atwell astonishes. Ensemble crushes. Tension-filled, MEANINGFUL action built for a theatrical experience. Can’t stop thinking about it. Priority viewing,” wrote another fan.

In ‘Dead Reckoning’, Ethan Hunt faces off with a rogue artificial intelligence, a prescient and well-suited antagonist for a movie universe built less on CGI than practical effects.
Director Christopher McQuarrie told Cruise he wanted to take ‘Mission: Impossible’ beyond the threat of a terrorist getting hold of a deadly weapon. He also told his crew, including cinematographer Fraser Taggart, to go to considerable lengths to ensure what the audience is watching feels authentic and immersive.

‘Mission: Impossible’ was one of the first major productions to be shut down by the pandemic. Months later, Cruise and ‘Dead Reckoning’ – a globe-trotting $290 million movie so logistically complicated that it prompted controversy for initial plans to blow up a century-old bridge in Poland – led an industry-wide effort to get movie business back online during the pandemic. An already high-stress production became even more tense. In December 2020, an audio recording leaked of Cruise yelling at two crew members for not obeying COVID-19 protocols.
The film also stars Hayley Atwell, Rebecca Ferguson, Pom Klementieff, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales and Vanessa Kirby.
