‘Miracle’: Sunil Narine surprises fans as he ‘celebrates’ after dismissing Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL final
Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) spin bowler Sunil Narine is known to be a very cool and calm customer, someone who doesn’t show much emotions on the field but he changed it on Friday as the big occasion brought the competitor in him.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) got off to a great start scoring 51 runs in the powerplay as their openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis were dictating terms after being put in to bat by the KKR skipper Eoin Morgan. The men in purple were in desperate need of a wicket and their talisman Narine provided.
Gaikwad had now become the new Orange Cap holder overtaking Punjab Kings skipper, who had amassed 626 runs and was looking in stupendous form but the break disturbed his rhythm and brought joy for the Knight Riders.
On the first ball after the time-out, Narine bowled it full and a little wide out of the off stump and Gaikwad didn’t get his timing right as KKR got their first breakthrough and Narine was all pumped up, a rare scene.
Narine punched his hands in delight and roared as he knew he got the big fish breaking the partnership. Narine, further went on to get another wicket as he trapped Robin Uthappa LBW, who played a quick 15-ball 31 to enhance CSK’s scoring.
The fans were surprised to see Narine celebrating as he was quiet even when he dismissed the RCB trio of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers in the Eliminator.
