Dalvin Cook has sensationally been released by the Minnesota Vikings as the team tries to free up some cap space ahead of the new NFL season.
The star running back is expected to be snapped up quickly, with the Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos among those reportedly interested in the 27-year-old, per ESPN.
Cook, who grew up in Miami, was chosen in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Vikings, going on to make 73 appearances across six seasons.
The decision to release Cook comes after the Vikings failed to find a trade partner for their star RB, two months ahead of his 28th birthday.
He was set to take up $14.1m in cap space for 2023 and was due to earn $11m if he stayed with the team for the upcoming season.

Cook is a four-time Pro Bowler but will be looking for a new team ahead of the 2023 season
He was due to earn $11m in 2023, but will instead take $2m and head to a new team
In being released, he will take $2million from the Vikings and head to a new team ahead of the start of the new season.
Last year, he surpassed 1,500 career touches and took his career total touchdowns to 47.

Behind him in the depth chart are 2022 backups Kene Nwangwu and Ty Chandler, with rookie DeWayne McBride also in with a shot.
